After Drumbaragh game 1Moynalvey picked up their sixth win of the PMC Physiotherapy Div. 9 League in this round 7 game against Drumbaragh played at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Monday evening 27th May.

Moynalvey 1-21
Drumbaragh 3-12

Moynalvey regained winning ways having suffered their first defeat in the previous round against Slane with this three point win over Drumbaragh to maintain their place at the top of the league table.

It was the visitors who opened the scoring through Luke Galligan in the 2nd minute and they nearly had a goal three minutes later when a Derek Carry shot hit the butt of the Moynalvey post.

Ray Ryan opened Moynalvey’s account thirty seconds later, with the same player following up with a brace; Drumbaragh responding with a point from the lively Luke Galligan to make it 0-3 to 0-2 to the home side with thirteen minutes played.

A brace of Drumbaragh points from Galligan and Derek Carry put Drumbaragh back in the lead, however a purple patch of Moynalvey scoring saw them register 1-6 without reply in a six minute period. The goal coming when Ray Ryan unselfishly laid on Barry Walsh for a simple close tap in and the points from Ryan (3), Stephen Donoghue (2) and David Donoghue, pushing Moynalvey into a 1-9 to 0-4 lead with twenty three minutes gone.

An Andrew Carry point eventually broke that Moynalvey scoring run, followed by another point from the impressive Ryan left it 1-10 to 0-5 with five minutes of the half remaining.

A drive at goal from Drumbaragh centre back Noel Corcoran was parried over the crossbar by Moynalvey ‘keeper Conor Egan for the visitors sixth point and Barry Walsh rounded off the first half scoring with a point for the home side leaving the score 1-11 to 0-6 at half time.

Half Time Score:
Moynalvey 1-11
Drumbaragh 0-6

Two points from Stephen Donoghue and Barry Walsh within ninety seconds of the restart pushed Moynalvey’s advantage out to a commanding ten point lead, 1-13 to 0-6.

However, Drumbaragh weren’t going down without a fight and a solo run from centre field by midfielder Liam Ward ended up in him driving past Conor Egan in the Moynalvey goals for the first of Drumbaragh’s three goals.

Three minutes later Derek Carry converted from the penalty spot for Dumbaragh’s second goal, reducing the margin to just four, 1-13 to 2-6.

Moynalvey recovered from these two goals with a trio of Barry Walsh points with Carry pointing a free in response to extend Moynalvey’s advantage out to six, 1-16 to 2-7 with ten minutes of the second half played.

Momentum swayed with Drumbaragh with five points; with a Donal Smith point in response for the home side meaning Drumbaragh had eaten Moynalvey’s lead down to two with ten minutes remaining, 1-17 to 2-12.

Moynalvey finished out the game strongly with points from Stephen Donoghue, Ray Ryan from the penalty spot, Donal Smith and Barry Walsh to lead by six, 1-21 to 2-12, on the hour mark.

A late consolation penalty converted by Derek Carry saw Moynalvey hold out for the three point win and their sixth win of the campaign on of a full time score line of 1-21 to 3-12.
