Full Time x v UltansMoynalvey picked up their fourth win from as many outings in this PMC Physiotherapy Div. 9 League game played at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Tuesday evening 30th April.

Moynalvey 0-17
St. Ultans 1-11

Owing to the fact this game clashed with sister club Kiltale’s Brendan Davis Cup Semi-Final at the same time, with both clubs pooling from a number of dual players Moynalvey were down as many as ten from last week’s win over Dunsany, but somehow mustered up seventeen lads for this game, including a couple of retirees togging out to help the cause.

Moynalvey picked up their fourth win from as many outings to remain top of the Div. 9 table following this three point win over visitors St. Ultans in an entertaining and competitive game at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on the final day of April.

It was St. Ultans’ who opening the scoring with a point from their full forward in the second minute, Moynalvey’s Barry Walsh responded a minute later to get his side on the score board.

Ultans’ full forward converted from a mark before a pair of Moynalvey points from Alan Donnelly and Vinny Walsh saw the home side take the lead for the first time.

The lead was short lived as St. Ultans’ equalized in the seventh minute; but three points without reply from Anthony Brien, Vinny Walsh and Stephen Donoghue gave Moynalvey a double score lead, 0-6 to 0-3 with seventeen minutes played.

A pair of Vinny Walsh points countered a trio of Ultans’ points, before the game’s only goal arrived in the 25th minute giving the visitors a one point lead, 1-6 to 0-8.

Anthony Brien pointed for Moynalvey, but another brace of St. Ultans points left the goal between the sides when referee Martin Ennis blew for half time, 1-9 to 0-9.

Half Time Score:
Moynalvey 0-17
St. Ultans 1-11

Moynalvey outscored their opponents eight points to two in the second half to seal the three point win.

With the winds at their back, the home side sent over the first four points of the second period from Michael Brady (2), Vinny Walsh and a booming effort from William Harnan to lead 0-13 to 1-9 at the three quarter mark.

That thirteenth point was after a turnover in the half back line was played to James O’Neill who lined out at the unorthodox position of corner back with James more accustomed to a corner at the other end of the field, who passed to Anthony Brien and in turn to top scorer Vinny Walsh who split the uprights.

St. Ultans’ briefly broke the Moynalvey scoring spell with a point to draw matters level again, but another pair of Moynalvey points from the Walsh brothers Barry and Vinny left it 0-15 to 1-10.

Another St. Ultans point left Moynalvey with a nervy one point advantage, but two points from William Harnan and Vinny Walsh saw Moynalvey hold out for a 0-17 to 1-11 win.

Next up for Moynalvey is a home game against Moynalty on Thursday week 9th May in a round four back fixture.

Best for Moynalvey were Michael Brady, Darragh Branigan, Vinny Walsh, Barry Walsh, William Harnan and Donal Smith.
