Summerhill ran out comfortable winners over neighbours Moynalvey by 13 points on a 2-17 to 1-7 score line in this Fèis Cup Quarter Final clash played at Pairc Tailteann on Sunday afternoon June 22nd.

Moynalvey 1-7 Summerhill 2-17

Moynalvey got off to the perfect start in the 2nd minute when David Reilly found the back of the Summerhill net from close range after his initial effort was saved by Summerhill keeper Tony McDonnell. This was as good as it got for the men in maroon and white as the ‘Hill reeled off six unanswered points, all from different players, to lead by double scores after 12 minutes, 0-6 to 1-0.
A John Donoghue point off his left peg in 13th minute cut the deficit to two points, but this was to be Moynalvey’s final score of the opening period. The Keegan cup holders went in at the break 12 points to the good having added 2-4 to their tally before the half time whistle, the two goals coming from Barry Dardis.

With the game dead and buried at half time, Summerhill outscored their neighbours 0-7 to 0-6 in the second half to record a comfortable 13 point win on a 2-17 to 1-7 score line. Moynalvey’s six second half points came courtesy of James Weldon (0-4), Shane Lenehan and substitute William Harnan.
