After a heavy defeat in round 1 to Ballinabrackey, our U14’s regrouped for round 2 and were determined not to be beaten by a very physical and well fancied Dunderry side on easter monday evening. Dunderry also had home advantage, but what ensued can only be described as an epic battle.
Moynalvey/Boardsmill 7-7 Dunderry 3-15.
Played in calm, dry, perfect conditions, Dunderry opened the scoring with a fine point from the 45, but Moynalvey responded with a goal and a point within a few minutes and fortunately stayed in front right up to half time.
After the break, Dunderry went 3 points ahead within minutes, but Moynalvey/Boardsmill responded again with a brace of goals and points to go ahead again. It was score for score from then on and was as good a game as you will see at any level.
Michael Brady was once again immense at midfield as was Colm Wall and Conor Quinn in the full back line. Massive performance also from Vinny Walsh at centre back and Timmy Halton also at midfield.
A huge overall team performance giving the fact that we are only playing together a matter of weeks.
Moynalvey/Boardsmill scorers were Michael Brady 3-4 Tadgh Cotter 2-0 Evan Kennedy 1-1 Noah O’Dea 1-1 and Craig Gilsenan 0-1.
