Moynalvey/Boardsmill u-14’s travelled away to Ballinabrackey this sun Aug 14. Firstly, Tullamore show, holidays and community games all contributed to not having all our players available.
We fielded with 11 players aside but we had no subs and they had five. However our shortage in numbers was compensated by majestic backs like Jim Roche and Dean Quinn, who were well supported by Eoin McCabe in the first half in particular they defended like warriors.
Secondly we scored a massive six goal and two points in the first half. Dylan Anthenson slotted and neat penalty and scored a sweet point also.
Vinny Walsh and Sean Deegan both were at the end of intricate moves and scored excellent goals. Evan Clark used his trusty left foot to slot home two goals in the first half. The halftime score was 6-2 to 5-7.
In the second half we played up the hill. BallinaBrackey introduced fresh legs and substitutes in the second half and this had a significant negative impact on our performance. (We lost!).Nevertheless Charlie Mc Cormack played like a tiger throughout the match and Liam O Reilly showed some lovely touches and as always intelligent play.
Finally a special mention to goalie Cathal Slevin who made some excellent saves with his feet in particular, and varied his kick outs to both wings, short and long to good effect.
