MeathHill-Drumconrath played exceptional football this evening and were deserving winners against a gallant Boardsmill Moynalvey U-14 team.
The game started late because of referee problems and it was great to hear the chat during our warm up about the price of hoggets and ewes with lambs at foot from Carnaross mart (160 euro for those interested!) These agricultural distractions did not help our case as we were hit for a three early goals in the first five minutes of the match.Niall Bagnall and Paul Corcoran did their best to stem the tide and help rally the troops to score 2-4 before half time.
We used several impact subs in the second half and the McGloughlin brothers Eoin and Ciaran with Timothy Halton and Dean Quinn shored up the defence, where as Jim Roche and Sean Deegan with Evan Clark helped in our recovery. The final score was 2-8 to 8-15 to the away team.We are hoping for a better display next time and also an improved trade in spring lambs over the next few weeks.
