Moynalvey’s first outing in the 2014 Seamus Connolly Catering Junior ‘B’ Football Championship proved to be disastrous as they suffered a 20 point beating at the hands of Seneschalstown on a 1-25 to 0-8 score line at Skryne last Friday evening April 25th.
Moynalvey 0-8 Seneschalstown 1-25
Both teams had two points on the board before this round two fixture, Seneschalstown’s points were secured with victory over St. Vincents in round one while Moynalvey’s were gained following the concession of a walkover by Ratoath in the opening round. Seneschalstown secured their second win of the campaign with a facile 20 point victory over Moynalvey last Friday night.
The Yellow Furze/Beauparc men had the game won at half time, leading 1-16 to 0-1. Moynalvey’s solitary score of the opening period arrived two minutes into injury time when corner forward Ciaran Ennis converted a free kick. In need of a miracle to resurrect a comeback, the second half was merely an effort to restore some pride in the maroon and white jersey, with the second period a closer affair on the scoring front as Seneschalstown eased off the gas in the second period outscoring their opponents 0-9 to 0-7.
