Moynalvey had a ten point win over home side Seneschalstown in Group B of the revised Div. 1 A League on a 4-10 to 0-12 score line at Fr. Tully Park on Friday evening July 17th.

Upon the resumption of competitive football post Covid-19 restrictions being lifted, Moynalvey found themselves playing the same opposition as their last competitive game back on February 8th in round 3 of the Feis Cup.
Having been relegated from Div. 1 at the end of 2019 Moynalvey have been retained in Div. 1 to make up the four groups of four for the 2020 revised A league format.
Despite only outscoring Seneschalstown by two scores, as the cliché goes “goals win games”.
Little separated the sides in the opening quarter, as the referee blew his whistle for the first water break Seneschalstown held a one point lead 0-4 to 0-3, three of those first four points for the home side coming from midfielder Jonathon Gilsenan and the other Bryan Clarke, with Moynalvey’s points from Mark (2) and Cillian O’Sullivan.
Soon after the water break Cillian O’Sullivan levelled matters for a fourth time, before the first of Moynalvey’s four goals came when Shane Lenehan capitalised on a Seneschalstown error.
A Seneschalstown point was countered by 1-3 from Moynalvey, points from Mark O’Sullivan, James Kelly, Ciaran Harnan and a Cathal McCabe goal, with a Bryan Clarke point for the home side leaving it 2-7 to 0-6 in favour of Moynalvey at half time.
The third quarter saw Moynalvey outscore Seneschalstown three points to two, Moynalvey’s points coming from Mark & Cillian O’Sullivan and Cathal McCabe, leaving it 2-10 to 0-9.
Just after the restart following the second water break, Moynalvey scored their 3rd goal when Shane Lenehan rounded his man on the end line to finish to the net from an acute angle pushing Moynalvey’s advantage out to ten points, 3-10 to 0-9.
Three Seneschalstown points were followed by the game’s last score, Moynalvey’s fourth goal coming from by Cillian O’Sullivan who finished a one on one at the second time of asking to leave Moynalvey ten point winners on a 4-10 to 0-12 score line.
Next up for Moynalvey in round two is Simonstown Gaels on Wednesday 22nd.
