Moynalvey Boardsmill u14 match vs Ballinabrackey final was played last Friday evening on the Astro in Dunganny.
The match had a delayed start over discussions about the small size of the juvenile goals and If Cathal Slevin would fit or not (see pic-health and safety issue ?). This was truly a game of two halves, the first being played in bright sunshine and Paul Corcoran and Jim Roche in particular having a very positive effect at midfield.Evan Clark and Paul scored two early goals with Paul also scoring a point from at least 50 meters. Charlie McCormack also shaved the post and the forwards in general were moving well with Vinny Walsh and Eoin McCabe lively in the wings. In the backs all thoughts of hoggets and tractors were put to one side as Tadg Cotter Timmy Halton and Aaron O’Connor did their best to defend against a strong BallinaBrackey attack.we were behind by three points at half time.
In the second half the clouds gathered, darkness came and the flood lights were turned on as we attacked towards the Navan end. Dylan Farrell and both McGloughlin’s Ciaran and Eoin worked the ball up the field in an attempt to get equalising scores. With good work from Liam Boyle and Sean Deegan we created three clear goal chances but with the goals being so narrow unfortunately there are all just wide of the target.Dean Quinn and Dylan Anthenson tried to rally the troups, however we lost in the end. It was great to play in the final and I think the whole experience left us hungry for success next time
