Moynalvey launched a great second half comeback to overcome a strong Trim team and book a place in the final of the under 15 Division 2 league.
Moynalvey 4 – 6 Trim 1 – 11
The game started late with a throw in time of ten past nine, but Moynalvey started brightly with two early points from Eammon Walsh and Fergal McCabe. However these were to be their only scores until just before half time, Trim dominating the remainder of the half scoring 1-08 unanswered . Things were looking bleak for Moynalvey heading towards half-time until captain James Kelly soloed through the centre of the Trim defence to finish to the back of the net, leaving the half time score at 1-08 to 1-02.
That late score inspired Moynalvey for the second half and straight from the throw in a well worked move involving Kelly and Darren Brennan resulted in Kelly finishing to the net for the second time. Moynalvey followed this up with a third goal from Padraic Harnan and a point from Brennan, which left Moynalvey 1 up after 5 minutes of the second half. Moynalvey continued to dominate the match and a goal from Harnan and points from Brennan and Kelly put Moynalvey 7 points to the good. Trim responded well and finished the game with 3 unanswered points,
This was far from the performance we’re used to from this team and they will have to up their game if they are to defeat a Summerhill team which cruised to the final with an easy win over Curraha/St Vincents. This final will be played in Pairc Tailteann this Saturday, November 29th at 12:45pm.
