Moynalvey’s Under 21 team prevailed with a strong performance against Boardsmill at a wind swept Longwood on Sunday morning, October 8th.
Moynalvey 5 – 12 Boardsmill 3 – 9
Playing with a strong wind behind them in the first half, Moynalvey quickly used the elements to their advantage and first half goals from Ciaran Farrelly, James Weldon and a speculative effort from Peter Durnin meant they held a 3 – 7 to 0 – 2 advantage at the half time break.
The second half was a much tighter affair with Boardsmill managing to strike 3 goals of their own. However, further goaled efforts from Philip Garvey and William Mahady meant Moynalvey held on to record a 9 point success.
Best for Moynalvey in a spirited team effort in which 11 players young enough for minor contributed were Brian O’Reilly who produced one world class save, Sean Weston, Anthony Donnelly, Padraig Donoghue and the entire forward line who all managed to get on the scoresheet.
