Moynalvey under 21’s produced a magnificent performance to qualify for the championship final after a hard fought 5 point victory over Moylagh in the semi final played under lights at Longwood on Friday evening last.
Moynalvey 3 – 6 Moylagh 2 – 4
Aided by 3 goals scored by Phillip Garvey, James Weldon and Peter Durnin, Moynalvey held a 3 – 2 to 1 – 2 interval advantage, the points coming from Weldon and midfielder Paul Garvey.
The second half was a tight affair and Moylagh dug deep in the third quarter to cut the deficit. However, Moynalvey sensing the danger rallied and pulled clear again with points from William Mahady, Durnin, Weldon and Phillip Garvey.
Best for the winners in an excellent team performance were Padraig & David Donoghue, Peter Durnin and the tireless William Mahady.
