Moynalvey’s second string produced a good team performance to qualify for the quarter finals of the Junior C championship after scoring a seven point win over previously unbeaten Moylagh in this 4th round game played in Cortown on Saturday, July 5th.
Moynalvey 1 – 7 Moylagh 0 – 3
Moynalvey were clearly the better side for most of this game but a host of missed chances meant they never emphatically pulled clear. Moynalvey led by 1 – 3 to 0 – 2 at the interval courtesy of points from Ciaran Ennis (2), Feidhlim Cunningham and a goal from midfielder Paul Garvey.
Moylagh only added one more point in the second half as Moynalvey added 4 courtesy of Ennis, Cunningham (2) and Ger McHale. Moynalvey’s defence was excellent in this game with Shane Reilly shining at centre back. The forwards however, will have some work to do before the quarter final comes round.
