For the second year running Moynalvey fell at the first hurdle of the Feis Cup when going down to Skryne by a 12 point margin on Thursday evening May 7th.

The host side Skryne who were first off the mark in the 2nd minute with a point from former county star Trevor Giles, with Moynalvey responding a minute later from the boot of Mark O’Sullivan. Moynalvey took the lead in the 7th minute with a Daniel Treacy point, but Giles once again found the range to draw matters level. Skryne tagged on two further scores before Daniel Treacy won possession in the middle of the field and forged forward to leave the minimum between the teams once again. Three minutes later the sides were level for the second time when Brian Gilsenan split the uprights. Skryne added five further scores while O’Sullivan added a free kick to Moynalvey’s tally in the remaining 10 minutes of the half, leaving the senior side well within Moynalvey’s sight at the break on a score line of 0-9 to o-5.
Skryne were ahead by double scores when they added the first score of the second period. An Alan Donnelly point was sandwiched between two further Skryne scores, before Moynalvey suffered a double whammy with the concession of two goals within 90 seconds. The home side added two further points leaving Moynalvey with a huge mountain to climb over the remaining 18 minutes. Moynalvey added further scores from Donnelly & O’Sullivan before the reduction to 14 men in the 48th minute effectively killed the contest off. Gilsenan, Ray Ryan & Ger Fagan added to Moynalvey’s total leaving the final score reading 3-14 to 0-11 in favour of Liam Harnan’s charges.
