Moynalvey defeated Moylagh by a 10 point margin in this A league division 3 game played in Kilmore Park, Moynalvey on Sunday April 6th.
Moynalvey 1 – 12 Moylagh 0 – 5
Playing against a strong breeze in the first period, Moynalvey opened the scoring through James Weldon and John Donoghue before Moylagh scored 2 points of their own to pull level. Martin Knightly then broke through to score a cracking goal off the crossbar before 2 Moylagh points in response to a PJ Walsh effort left the score at 1 – 3 to Moynalvey and 0 – 4 to Moylagh at the interval.
Moynalvey owned the majority of the second half and points from Weldon, Ciaran Collins and Robbie Quinlan had Moynalvey 5 clear early into the second period. Moylagh scored to reduce the deficit to 1 – 6 to 0 – 5 but this proved to be their last score as points from Collins (3), Donoghue, Weldon and Ger Fagan meant Moynalvey secured a 10 point victory.
Moylagh were missing a number of players and no doubt it will be a far tighter affair when both sides meet in the first round of the championship in a couple of weeks time.
