Moynalvey claimed PMC Physiotherapy Division 9 League honours with an eight point victory over Slane at Walterstown on Saturday evening 20th July.

Back on a Tuesday night in May a skeleton Moynalvey panel travelled to Slane to suffer their only loss of the Div. 9 league when losing out to fellow table toppers and the final opposition by eight points, this time it was the men in maroon who reversed that eight point loss into a winning margin in the Final.
Early on in this game it looked like Slane were going to have it easy as they had three points on the score board within the opening three minutes through Daniel Carolan and Oisin Mooney (2) as Moynalvey struggled to get to the pace of the game.
Moynalvey eventually opened their account in the sixth minute with a Vinny Walsh free, with Slane replying a minute later with a Braydon Colfer free with what would prove to be their last score of the half.
A ’45 taken short by Michael Brady to John Donoghue resulted in the latter sending high over the Slane cross bar for Moynalvey’s second point. Michael Brady opened his account with a free, Vinny Walsh sent over his second, followed by an Eoin Corrigan effort fired over from an acute angle to the right of the posts to put Moynalvey in the lead for the first time, 0-5 to 0-4, midway through the half.
The first half scoring was rounded off with a Vinny Walsh free and a couple of booming points from distance by Michael Brady to leave the half time score board read double scores, 0-8 to 0-4, in favour of Moynalvey when referee Robbie Barrett blew the half time whistle.

As expected Des Teeling’s side emerged from the dressing rooms for the second half in determined mood and within three minutes of the restart the Slane men were level with a quick fire goal from Sean Murray and point from the boot of Oisin Mooney, drawing the sides level for just a second time, 1-5 to 0-8.
However, from here on the Slane men failed to register a score again over the remaining thirty three minutes as Darragh Branigan, Charlie McCormack and the Donoghue brothers David and John marshalled the Moynalvey defence excellently throughout.
Moynalvey went on to add a further 2-2, the goals coming from substitute Keelan Taylor who fired low across Slane ‘keeper Michale Leavey, while the second was a speculative point attempt from the right wing from another substitute Ray Ryan, finished to the net with the deftest of touches from another substitute James O’Neill. Anthony Brien was unlucky not to add a third goal with a rasping effort which rebounded off the Slane cross bar.
Stephen Donoghue added a point and the final score of the game fittingly went to birthday boy Barry Walsh who celebrated his eighteenth birthday yesterday, meaning Caoimhin King’s side ran out eight point winners on a full time score of 2-10 to 1-5.
Moynalvey had brilliant performances all round, but in particular Paul Corcoran, Darragh Branigan, Michael Brady, Charlie McCormack and David Donoghue.
After the game a proud Moynalvey man Paul Conneely of the competition sponsor PMC Physiotherapy presented the cup to fellow Moynalvey man and captain David Durkan in the presence of Co. Board chairperson Jason Plunkett.
