After a number of cancellations due to poor weather, Moynalvey and Ballivor finally contested the Minor Division 3 League final in Summerhill in late May 2006. And it was Moynalvey who emerged victorious after a scintillating first half display and even though Ballivor put up a gallant effort in the second half it was too little too late with the winners victorious by five points. Moynalvey opened the scoring through a James Weldon point and this was followed by further points from Donal Smith and Raymond Ryan to leave it 3 points to 2 in the winners favour after 10 minutes play. However, it was then that Moynalvey began to assert their authority with the help of wind advantage, a Simon Courtney goal was quickly followed by a similar effort from Ryan and a point from Weldon to leave Moynalvey 8 points ahead. The one way traffic continued until half time with further points from Courtney (2), Weldon, Ryan as well as another goal from Ryan to leave it 3-8 to 0-5 at the break.

The second half saw Ballivor launch their expected comeback but further points by Ryan (3), a superb Weldon point from play and stout defending from Sean Weston, Philip Garvey and Packie Heapes ensured Moynalvey held on for a well deserved success. This was a superb team effort by the winners who earned the club its first minor success since the early 1990’s and they can now look forward with optimism to the minor championships which will commence in early August.
