Moynalvey overcame Clann na nGael on a 1-10 t0 0-7 score line in Division 3 of the A League at Athboy on Monday evening July 18th.

Little separated the sides during the opening period, the sides were level 0-2 apiece after 12 minutes when Ray Ryan and Mark O’Sullivan had pointed for Moynalvey. Clann na nGael hit the next two points of the game, pushing them into a double scores advantage. Quick thinking in the 20th minute saw a ’45 taken short to Barry O’Keefe who split the posts. Two minutes before the half time break, Paul Wedon won possession around the middle of the park and delivered a pass to full forward Ciaran Collins, Collins off loaded to Dan Treacy who burst through the centre at pace and dispatched the ball to the back of the Clann na nGael net. The home side narrowed the gap to the minimum, before Ray Ryan slotted over in injury time for Moynalvey, to give them a 1-4 to 0-5 interval lead.
After the restart, Moynalvey began to dominate possession around centre field and hit 0-4 without reply in the opening 15 minutes of the half, the scores coming from Ciaran Collins, Ray Ryan, Stephen Donoghue and a superb effort from Willie Byrne. Further scores for Moynalvey from Collins and Treacy saw Moynalvey out score their opponents 0-6 to 0-2 in the second period, securing a well deserved 1-10 to 0-7 victory. Best for Moynalvey were Paul Weldon, Stephen Donoghue, Dan Treacy and Ciaran Collins.
