A point for Gaeil Colmcille with the last kick of the game denied Moynalvey both league points in this keenly contested A league Division 3 game played in Moynalvey on Sunday, February 17th.
Moynalvey 0 – 9 Gaeil Colmcille 0 – 9
Kells started brightest and had 2 points on the board after five minutes as the Moynalvey team appeared to be feeling the effects of their annual dinner dance on Friday night. However, Moynalvey rallied and pulled level courtesy of a Robbie Quinlan free and a fine effort from near the sideline by John Donoghue.
The rest of the half was nip and tuck as 3 Moynalvey points from Quinlan (2) and Donoghue were nullified by similar Kells efforts, leaving the half time score at 0 – 5 each.
Moynalvey began to get on top as the second half began and took a 3 point lead with 15 minutes left courtesy of a Quinlan free and superb efforts from play by corner forwards Brian Gilsenan and Willie Byrne. Kells had to respond and that they did drawing level with 5 minutes to go. A Quinlan free edged Moynalvey back ahead and an effort from the same player then hit the post and went wide before Kells last minute intervention to leave both sides with their second draw from 2 league games in this year’s competition.
