Despite a very brave effort from all involved, Moynalvey left agonisingly short in this thrilling Junior A ladies final played under lights at Donaghmore/Ashbourne on Saturday night last.
Moynalvey 1 – 11 Ratoath 3 – 7
The concession of 3 penalties, all of which were expertly converted, proved extremely costly as Ratoath ran out winners. Indeed, the first score of the game was from a penalty which Ratoath dispatched into the bottom left corner, but Moynalvey battled back to draw level 0 – 3 to 1 – 0 after ten minutes. Ratoath scored a second penalty just before the interval to lead by 2 – 4 to 0 – 6 at half time.
Moynalvey upped their game after the break but could never draw level. With ten minutes remaining there was only 2 points in it with Ratoath leading 2 – 6 to 0 – 10. However the concession of a third penalty which Ratoath again converted was the nail in the coffin for a Moynalvey side who battled on and although Aoife Weston scored a cracking late goal, it was Ratoath who held on to run out 2 point winners.
