Moynalvey 5-18 Walterstown 1-12
The first half of this game was an even contest, but with Cathal McCabe and Padraic Harnan claiming plenty of possession around the middle of the park, it gave sharpshooter James Kelly the chance to find the net three times in the opening period. Despite being outscored in the point scoring stakes, Kelly’s hat trick of first half goals helped Moynalvey to a 4-5 to 1-8 half time lead.
The second period was more of a one way contest with Moynalvey dominating possession, the centre field duo of Padraic Harnan and Sean Burke were particularly impressive. A fine second half scoring performance from Cillian O’Sullivan saw the host side run out 5-18 to 1-12 victors. Best for the winners were the hard working Cathal McCabe, Shane Browne, Anthony Forde, Cillian O’Sullivan and top scorer James Kelly who finished with a personal tally of 4-6.
