Moynalvey’s Junior C team bowed out of the championship at the quarter final stage after a disappointing performance against Castletown at Simonstown on Saturday evening last.
Moynalvey 0 – 6 Castletown 1 – 12
After a disastrous opening spell where Castletown led by 1 – 6 to 0 – 1 after twenty minutes Moynalvey never recovered and despite first half points from Shane Collins, Ciaran Ennis and Denis Hoban, they trailed 1 – 6 to 0 – 3 at half time with the Castletown goal coming from the penalty spot.
James weldon got Moynalvey to within five points on the restart after a fine pointed effort but this was the closest they got as Castletown pulled away. Moynalvey enjoyed plenty of possession in the final twenty minutes but lacked spark in front of goals. Two late points by Ciaran Ennis left the losing margin at nine points in the end.
Best for Moynalvey on a disappointing night were Zane Donoghue, Donal Smith and Ennis.
