Moynalvey picked up their first win of the Seamus Connolly Catering Junior ‘B’ Championship when overcoming Nobber by three points on the 3G astro pitch at Dunganny on Monday evening 12th August.

Re-fixed for Monday evening following Sunday’s original postponed fixture due to a waterlogged Dunderry pitch and 24hrs before Moynalvey’s SFC Round 3 game on Tuesday, this Junior ‘B’ championship game was played on the unusual setting of Dunganny’s 3G astro pitch.
Moynalvey opened the game’s scoring in the 5th minute through James O’Neill, before Nobber opened their account with their first goal a minute later.
Another Nobber point left them three ahead before four Moynalvey points in a row from O’Neill (3) and Shaun Deering left it 0-5 to 1-1 to Moynalvey at the quarter hour mark.
A brace of Nobber points either side of a Brian Conneely score for Moynalvey left it all square 1-3 to 0-6 after 21 minutes. Two further Moynalvey points from James O’Neill and Shaun Deering left Moynalvey two points up at half time, 0-8 to 1-3.
Within ninety seconds of the restart Nobber pointed, with Brian Conneely responding for Moynalvey. Then came Nobber’s second goal followed by two points leaving them three points up 12 minutes into the second period, 2-6 to 0-9.
However, in the last quarter Moynalvey outscored Nobber 0-8 to 0-2 with points from Brian Conneely (3), James O’Neill (3), Shaun Deering and David Reilly to leave three between the sides at the final whistle, 0-17 to 2-8.
Best for Moynalvey were man of the match David Reilly, Willie Mahady, Shaun Deering and top scoring veterans James O’Neill and Brian Conneely.
Next up for Moynalvey is a final round game against table toppers Ratoath.
