Moynalvey lost out to Seneschalstown on a 1-11 to 1-7 score line in the first round of the Seamus Connolly Catering sponsored Junior ‘B’ Football Championship at Dunshaughlin on Sunday evening April 21st.
Moynalvey 1-7 Seneschalstown 1-11
Moynalvey started the game the better of the two sides, clocking up the game’s opening two points courtesy of Fearghal McCabe and a James Kelly free. By the time Moynalvey registered their third point of the game in the 21st minute they found themselves seven points in arrears as Seneschalstown scored 1-6 without reply. Following a James Kelly free for Moynalvey, Seneschalstown furthered their advantage to eight points in the 22nd minute, 1-8 to 0-3. Moynalvey steadied the ship through a David Durkan point and a well taken goal from Luke Duffy, leaving four between the sides with five minutes of the half remaining. Moynalvey ‘keeper Giles Drum superbly saved in the 27th minute denying Seneschalstown their only clear cut goal chance of the game. The Beauparc men tagged on a further point before the half time whistle, leaving five between the sides at the interval, 1-9 to 1-4.
Four minutes after the break, Seneschalstown increased their advantage to six points. Neither side troubled the score board for a barren 19 minute period, until Kelly sent over his third free of the game in the 53rd minute. However Moynalvey were unfortunate not to score at least one goal, when between the 43rd and 46th minutes a hat trick of goal chances were spurned, largely due to excellent goalkeeping/defending from the Seneschalstown goalkeeper/defence. In the final five minutes Kelly sent over his 4th and 5th points of the game, with Seneshalstown landing the final score of the game from a free, leaving the final score reading 1-11 to 1-7 in favour of Seneschalstown.
