Moynalvey remain pointless in the Junior ‘B’ football championship following their fourth successive defeat in Group B at the hands of Walterstown on a 2-8 to 0-7 score line at Skryne on Sunday evening August 18th.

Walterstown opened the game with the perfect start, leading 1-1 to 0-00 after 11 minutes with both scores coming courtesy of full forward Alan Browne. Moynalvey’s opening score of the game arrived in the 12th minute when Robert Quinlan split the uprights. A brace of Walterstown points from Aaron Mcloughlin and Browne again left the Blacks five points to the good on a 1-3 to 0-1 score line mid way through the opening period. Midfielder Brian Conneely sent over Moynalvey’s second score in the 18th minute, but two minutes later Moynalvey found themselves seven points in arrears when Alan Browne raised his and Walterstown’s second green flag of the evening. Three minutes later the game’s top scorer Browne sent over a converted free, registering his fifth score of the half. Moynalvey added two more points to their tally before the break with PJ Walsh sending over the first and then turning provider for Brian Conneely, leaving the two goals between the sides on a 2-4 to 0-4 score line at the interval.
Following the restart the game’s chief scorer Browne added two more points, pushing the Blacks advantage to eight points on a 2-6 to 0-4 score line. Moynalvey with a mountain to climb over the remainder of the half put in a valiant effort, but ultimately the goal chances they needed to resurrect their cause never arrived. Shaun Deering, PJ Walsh and Robert Quinlan pointed for Moynalvey in response to two Alan Browne points for Walterstown over the remainder of the game, leaving the Blacks seven point winners on a 2-8 to 0-7 score line at the final whistle.
