Moynalvey picked up their first two points of the K McKeown Carpentry and Home Improvements Div. 8 League with a nine point win over visitors Clann na nGael at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Sunday morning April 13th.

Clann na nGael were first to trouble the scorekeeper with a point after a minute, with Moynalvey responding with a brace of points from centre forward Luke Duffy. A smart save from first team manager Barry O’Keeffe lining out in goals kept the visitors at bay.

Clann na nGael made it two points apiece in the fifth minute, with Moynalvey again responding with points from William Harnan and Luke Duffy; before the game’s first goal arrived in the ninth minute when Clann na nGael netted, leaving it 1-2 to 0-4.

Three Aaron Sweeney points and one from James O’Neill left Moynalvey 0-8 to 1-2 ahead midway through the first half. But then Clann na nGael reeled off four points without reply to take a one point lead, 1-6 to 0-8, with twenty one minutes played.

Luke Duffy equalized but the visitors once again responded to leave it all square 0-9 to 1-6, but Moynalvey finished the half stronger with points from Evan Drum (2), Stephen Donoghue and Conor Quinn to leave the half time score board read 0-13 to 1-7 in favour of the men in maroon.

Clann na nGael levelled matters for a fifth time with their second goal five minutes into the second half. However, a purple patch of Moynalvey scoring saw the home side reel off the next 1-5, a Vinny Walsh two pointer, 1-1 from Aaron Sweeney, along with points from Luke Duffy and Wiliam Harnan to leave it 1-18 to 2-7 thirteen minutes into the second half.

Clann na nGael responded with a pair of points, with Moynalvey in turn responding with a Barry Walsh point and a goal from Luke Duffy to leave it 2-19 to 2-9 with eleven minutes remaining.

The sides traded scores over the final ten minutes to leave the full time score read 3-20 to 2-14 in favour of Moynalvey.
