By the time Simonstown Gaels registered their first and only score of the opening period Moynalvey had clocked up 1-7 courtesy of Ciaran Ennis (0-3), Anthony Brien (0-2), William Harnan (0-1), Brian Conneely (0-1) and Johnny Carey (1-0). Over the remainder of the half the hosts kicked a further 2-6, effectively killing off the game as a contest before the half time whistle. Moynalvey left the field at the interval with a 3-12 to 0-1 lead. The remaining first half scores came courtesy of Padraig Donoghue (0-2), Brian Conneely (0-1), William Harnan (0-2), Anthony Brien (1-0) and Johnny Carey (1-0).
Upon the restart it was more of the same as Ciaran Ennis found the net two minutes into the half when finishing the rebound after his initial penalty kick was saved. The impressive William Harnan added a fifth goal for the men in maroon and white three minutes later. Further points from Harnan (0-1), Anthony Brien (0-2), and 0-2 from substitute PJ Walsh saw Moynalvey run out emphatic 6-17 to 0-3 winners.
