Moynalvey GFC would like to pass on its condolences to the Farrell family on the passing of Dessie Farrell, a great Gael and supporter of Moynalvey and Meath Football. Dessie (brother of Joleen Corcoran) was a native of Galtrim and played with the Moynalvey club up until his emigration to Oxford England in the early 60’s, where he became one of the central figures in Éire Óg GAA Club in Oxford. The Éire Óg club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2009; visit the following link to hear an interview with Dessie detailing his tale of emigration and love for the GAA, including his memories of the bonfire on Moynalvey hill after Meath won the All-Ireland in 1949.
