As some of you may be aware our club chairman John Smyth is set to run the Dublin Marathon next Monday October 27th along with some of his work colleagues. John and his colleagues have completed a Half Marathon on September 20th and a ¾ marathon in Athlone on 5th October to prepare for next Monday.
This merits a huge milestone for John who has lost 3 stone and has given up the fags in his fitness regime. It’s another tick off his bucket list, which also includes playing for Moynalvey GFC at some stage!!
John and his colleagues thought long and hard about what charity to run for; until they were presented with information on a little 5 year old girl called Evie Lawlor, the niece of one of their work colleagues, who has been recently diagnosed with a neurodegenerative disorder. She can no longer walk and her devastated parents are desperately trying to raise funds for a wheelchair adaptable car that will make life a little easier for her and the many hospital visits she will have to undertake.
