Moynalvey’s long journey to Castletown proved to be in vein as the host side ran out 10 point winners on a 2-16 to 2-6 score line in this Div. 2 A League round 6 tie played on Wednesday evening May 13th.

With both sides languishing close to the bottom of the Division 2 league table it was the North Meath side who claimed the badly needed two points on offer in a comfortable 10 point route over their Senior opponents. It was Castletown’s second win from six outings, while Moynalvey remain with one win and a draw from as many games.
A superb first half showing from the home side registering 2-7 to Moynalvey’s solitary 1st half point from James O’Neill handed Castletown a commanding 12 point halftime lead on a 2-7 to 0-1 score line.
Immediately after the restart a David McLoughlin point and a goal from John Donoghue gave Moynalvey some glimmer of hope, however a brace of points one apiece for the Castletown midfield pairing ensured a 10 point margin remained between the sides on the three quarter hour mark. Ten points also separated the sides at the full time whistle as the home side hit a further 0-7, while Moynalvey scored a further 1-4. Moynalvey’s scores in the final quarter came from James O’Neilll, 0-3 from David McLoughlin, while the goal came from substitute James Kelly after some superb high fielding from William Harnan in the build up.
