Boardsmill/Moynalvey started their under-14 campaign with victory in Division 4 vs St Mary’s this Saturday afternoon.
Niall Bagnall and Paul Corcoran controlled the midfield area. Early scores came in from Evan Clarke in the full forward line who was ably assisted by Eoin McLoughlin. In defence Dean Quinn and Jim Roche were like Hadrian’s wall, nobody could get by.
Liam Boyle marshalled his goals very well and his kickouts always tried to find his teammates. We had 16 players in total because of our combination and a major reason for winning the match was our ability to run in fresh subs. Ciaran McLoughlin and Tadg Cotter had huge impacts when introduced.
In addition Aaron O’Connor and Wesley Gibbons were good on the ball and linked well with Eoin McCabe in the first half for some great scores. Sean Deegan scored an excellent goal and Dylan Farrell also found the net. We had the wind in the second half and St. Marys also scored freely. However Cathal Slevin made sure our defence held tight in the last 10 minutes to win the match with the score line finishing 6–6 to 3- 5.
