B League trip to Stamullen miserable in all aspects

By promoynalvey Thu 9th May

Moynalvey’s long mid-week journey to Stamullen proved to be a miserable one in all aspects as the hosts ran out comfortable winners in round 5 of the B League played Wednesday night 8th May.

St.Patricks 5-9
Moynalvey 0-6

The Moynalvey men suffered a similar fate to the Moynalvey ladies against the same opposition, with the ladies also going down to St. Patricks at home in the first round of the Ladies Junior Championship last night.

A trait of conceding goals while struggling to score any has become familiar for Moynalvey throughout this B League campaign.

Following the day’s rain, a shower just before throw in made the already wet and slippy conditions even more difficult. A couple of the St. Pats’ goals came from long range shots deceiving Moynalvey ‘keeper David Brennan on the skiddy surface.

St. Patrick’s were in control from the very off, with their first goal coming within the first minute. At half time they led 2-4 to 0-3, with Moynalvey guilty of not being closer to their opponents missing number of first half scoring chances, while also being hampered by the early loss of Brian O’Reilly to injury.

The second half saw the Stamullen men outscore Moynalvey 3-5 to 0-3 to run out comfortable winners recording their third win of the campaign, while Moynalvey remain without one and bottom of the league table.

Moynalvey:
