The concession of two very soft goals midway through either half meant Moynalvey fell to defeat against St Marys in this B league game played in very wet conditions in Moynalvey on Saturday evening last.
Moynalvey 0 – 6 St Marys 2 – 8
Moynalvey started brightly and had a lot of possession in the first half but failed to take their chances. Johnny Duffy opened the scoring for the hosts with a superb effort but further points from Raymond Ryan, Shane Collins and Ciaran Collins were cancelled out when a long range attempt for a point by St Marys was spilled into the Moynalvey net, leaving the half time score at 1 – 2 to 0 – 4 in favour of the visitors.
Further points on the resumption from Shane Collins and James Weldon were responded to by St Marys with 3 points of their own leaving two points in it midway through the second half. However, the game was decided when a long range punt from the sideline bounced and skidded into the Moynalvey net. St Marys then scored the last 3 points of the game to secure a deserved success.
