Moynalvey made the long journey to Ballinlough only to suffer a heavy defeat at the hands of the home side last Sunday afternoon February 14th in the opening round of the Division 3 A league.
.
Ballinlough 5-10 Moynalvey 0-3
.
Although Moynalvey fielded without a number of regulars, on the evidence of this performance, Ballinlough won’t be waiting long to return to Division 2. They blitzed the Moynalvey defence in the opening half, registering 1-3 from play in the opening 4 minutes, before Moynalvey opened their account in the 7th minute, with their first and only score of the opening period from a James Weldon free. The game was essentially over at half time as Ballinlough continued to scythe through the Moynalvey defence over the remainder of the half, adding a further 3-2, leaving the half time score reading 4-5 to 0-1 in favour of the North Meath men.
.
While Moynalvey did stem the concession of goals in the second half, Ballinlough doubled their points tally along with a fifth goal, with Moynalvey’s only response being two more pointed efforts from the boot of Weldon, to leave the final score 5-10 to 0-3.
