Today an interesting record must have been formed, with 3 Moynalvey men filling 3 of Meath’s back 6 defensive positions in the 2nd half. (We’ve previously had 3 minors part of the one side but never all in the backs)!! The introduction of Adam Murphy joined our 2 starters Conor Harnan & Brian O’Reilly, continuing Moynalvey’s strong line of Meath Minor footballers over the last few years!!
Meath had a good win today again…st Laois in the Leinster Minor Football Championship. We can be very proud of our Moynalvey players Conor Harnan, Brian O’Reilly and Adam Murphy all played very well especially in a tense last 15 minutes. Adam’s introduction in the second-half had a very positive effect, indeed he charged forward and turned neatly onto his left foot to get a valuable point. Conor and Brian in the fullback line raided,anticipated,intercepted,robbed,intervened,tackled,mauled and danced their way out of trouble. Their motto was “Thou shall not pass”. They used their aggression and marvellous football skills to nip Laois’ attacks in the bud.
All in all the team played somewhat nervously but that’s all behind them now as they will confidently face bigger challenges in the weeks and months ahead.
