Moynalvey lost out to Trim by two points in the opening round of the Div. 1B A League played at Kilmore Park Moynalvey on Sunday afternoon March 6th.

Trim turned around a two-point half time deficit, outscoring the home side 0-7 to 0-3 in the second half to win by the same two-point margin.
It was the visitors who were first to register with a point from corner forward Michael Cullen in the 4th minute with Moynalvey responding a minute later with a David McLoughlin free.
Two Aaron Lynch frees were countered by the first of Stephen Donoghue’s three points to leave it 0-3 to 0-2 to Trim at the quarter hour mark.
A David McLoughlin point from play levelled matters for second time in the 20th minute, a minute later the same player gave Moynalvey the lead for the first time with a converted free.
Trim’s Daire Lynch levelled matters for a third time in the 23rd minute for what would be Trim’s last score of the opening half.
A further brace of McLoughlin frees handed Moynalvey a two-point half time advantage, 0-6 to 0-4.
Moynalvey lost midfielder Donal Smith to a black card just before the break and Trim made their numerical advantage count hitting three points without reply in the first eight minutes of the second half to retake the lead, 0-7 to 0-6.
Two Stephen Donoghue points either side of a Michael Cullen point left the sides tied for a fourth time, 0-8 apiece heading into the final quarter.
David McLoughlin and Aaron Lynch traded frees to level matters 0-9 apiece with eleven minutes remaining.
McLoughlin’s free would prove to be Moynalvey’s last score, while a brace of Lynch frees in the 57th and 58th minutes secured the two-point win and the two points on offer for Trim.
Best for Moynalvey were Scott Tuite, Cathal McCabe and Stephen Donoghue.
